The redevelopment of this site was challenging, involving the demolition of the existing buildings right next to Notting Hill Gate underground station.
The complexity of this refurbishment stemmed from its location; in the heart of a bustling Notting Hill Gate, and with its proximity to the A4, it was not possible to build with a crane as would be the norm. This meant that during this project communication was especially essential, working with the principal contractor, Rainsford, seamlessly for the best and safest result.
Over the course of the project, BSS installed temporary support structures during demolition, fabricated and installed the steel frame for the new structure, provided special stainless steel brick ties and installed steel open mesh flooring on all levels of the build.
Overall, the entire project was a success, and we are proud to have been able to overcome the obstacles presented by the tight workspace and busy surroundings making it unsuitable for the use of a crane.
